The Pull List #00

The Pull List #00

What's Good? Blerds! Welcome to issue #00, our weekly pull list from this new newsletter. This is your one-stop shop for all things in blerd culture and the latest in comic books.

Okay, no more intro stuff; let's get to the meat of the first article: what's on the pull list for this week? What are you supposed to be picking up from your comic book store? Which Black characters are leading the most, and which stories can you not stop reading?

For this issue, we will narrow it down to what we want to read in these posts—basically, keeping the list short and sweet with only the cream of the crop. If you want a full list of what is coming out this week, head over to leagueofcomicgeeks.com

Jumping right in, here's what we're picking up for New Book Day:

Batman: The Long Halloween - The Last Halloween #0

This zero issue gives a whole new spin to the classic "The Long Halloween" storyline just in time for the most Spooktacular Time of the Year. It's been 25 years since the release of Darkness: Batman, and to celebrate, legendary creators Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale reunite for their final collaboration on the series. They're digging deep into the rabbit hole of Gotham City to see what new mysteries they can uncover. You might think you know everything about Batman's dark Halloween adventures. Still, this prelude promises revelations that could have dire consequences for Batman, Commissioner Gordon, and Two-Face.

What's better than getting in-season by adding a Batman Halloween issue to your pull list? This zero issue perfectly fits those who are eager to go back to the darker corners of Gotham. It is a must-have for new readers and longtime fans who thought they knew the whole story.

Deadpool #6

Our favorite Merc with a Mouth is back in action with the kickoff of a brand-new arc, as unpredictable as the first panel. Wade Wilson has just won his fight with Death Grip. But in typical Deadpool style, things are about to take a wild turn—so wild that killing Deadpool now would be an insane thing to do, which is precisely why it's happening.

Since seeing the latest Deadpool movie, this has been a frequent pick-up for me. Something about his irreverent humor and unexpected twists keeps me coming. This issue is brought to you by brilliant blerd Cody Ziglar, and the cover art by Taurin Clarke is absolutely fantastic. These two blerds make this issue of Deadpool a winner.

Take advantage of this one if you like any witty banter and high-stakes action.

Venom War: Deadpool #1

Deadpool faces a new, different kind of villain—an unstoppable, terrifying horde of symbiote-infected creatures. He's bitten off more than he can chew—quite literally—facing a plague that makes everything into ravenous "zombiotes." When chaos erupts, and danger is around every corner, who will answer the call when Wade needs it most? This issue, from fan-favorite Cullen Bunn, promises the mercenary mayhem we all know.

As I said, the Merc with a Mouth makes some big moves this week. Not only does this tie in well with the new Venom movie that is close at hand, but it's easy to want to dive into those Venom storylines. In truth, this new Venom War series makes me more excited about the film that is coming up. Want to hear our thoughts on the latest movie trailer? Catch us this Thursday on the livestream. This crossover certainly isn't dull, boasting high-octane action and the kind of humor only Deadpool can provide.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora #6

Following this great series, we journey with So'lek, a Na'vi warrior who has suffered immense loss and embarks on a life-changing journey through Pandora. Attempting to come to terms with his loss and the few audible remnants of war, So'lek seeks his healing through his connections and what he goes through. This issue not only wraps up his epic quest but also serves as an origin story for a critical character in Ubisoft's next video game, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

This is a no-brainer: Dark Horse Comics knew they had a hit with this series, and as we approach issue #6 to round it out, I am in anticipation of getting my hands on it myself. The Avatar universe has so much depth to explore, and if you love the films, be sure to do yourself a favor and pick up this entire series. It's a deep dive into the richness of Pandora lore, complementing the movie experience with new perspectives and adventures.

Void Rivals #1

From the genius of Robert Kirkman and Lorenzo De Felici comes an entirely new shared universe that begins with a bang. Mired in an endless war near a massive black hole, two opposing pilots crash-land on a desolate planet. Pressed to survive, they uncover secrets that could imply and alter the universe. Are they alone in this strange world, or is there something more sinister waiting in the wings? I'm lying to nobody—the cover art caught my eye, for starters. Of course, it's always a good idea to pick up the first issues of new universes; you never can tell when something will catch fire. With Robert Kirkman at the helm, known for The Walking Dead and Invincible, there will at least be some compelling storytelling and fascinating world-building involved. I'll definitely be picking this up, no question.

That's this week's pull list. It is the Blerdimension team's new way of doing content—the way this all fits together is mostly new and, without a doubt, one huge experiment. Thanks for reading this issue.
